TAKE ACTION: $400 million to advance zero-emission vehicles

By Newsroom America Feeds at 21 Oct 2017

Dear Eric,

A California agency is asking for advice about how to spend more than $400 million from the Volkswagen emissions cheating settlement.

We have a huge opportunity to use this money on electric vehicles--electric transit and school buses, and electric heavy duty trucks that will substantially cut air pollution and prioritize environmental justice. But because the devil is in the details, exactly how the California Air Resources Board chooses to use the money is key.

Send a message to the California Air Resources Board now to urge that the money be spent on zero-emission electric vehicles with an emphasis on projects that benefit environmental justice:

The terms of the settlement require that the money be used on projects in the heavy-duty sector. Already, fossil fuel interests are going after these settlement funds for things like natural gas and "clean diesel" vehicles-projects that will keep us dependent on polluting vehicles.

We cannot miss the opportunity to fight for zero-emission vehicles, which will have the biggest impact on our air quality.

Tell the Air Resources Board to claim California's funding for supporting electric vehicles, trucks and buses -- not more dirty fossil fuels -- and to prioritize funds in communities hit hardest by air pollution:

Thanks for everything you do to promote cleaner cars and cleaner air,

Kathryn Phillips Director, Sierra Club California
