Dear Deanne,

We need your help right now: if a "No More Parks" bill on its way to the House floor passes, the majestic redwoods of Muir Woods -- some of which have existed for 1,200 years -- could be reduced to sawdust.

This potentially devastating legislation, which yesterday cleared committee, would gut the Antiquities Act and open the doors to clearcutting the tallest of all living things -- while decimating the century-old monument created by Teddy Roosevelt to honor Sierra Club founder John Muir.

That's right, Deanne, it's personal. We cannot let this bill pass.

Your emergency gift today will help us stop the GOP Congress, Interior Sec. Ryan Zinke and President Trump from rolling the saws into this rare old-growth forest -- home to hundreds of birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, insects and plants -- while scaling up our legal and grassroots strategies. Please, rush your monthly gift now. Please, we don't have a moment to waste-rush your emergency monthly gift of $5 or more before midnight Wednesday. Help us protect Muir Woods' iconic redwoods before they're gone forever.

Deanne, the Antiquities Act was expressly created to protect special places like Muir Woods. Where redwoods once occupied 2 million acres of coastal lands, a staggering 96 percent of the towering trees have already been logged.

There's no question that Utah Congressman Rob Bishop's bill would be devastating to numerous iconic natural sites: not only opening Muir Woods to clearcutting but the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument to offshore drilling. All unthinkable under any other recent administration.

I won't mince words: this bill could erase millions of years of natural history -- all in one big corporate giveaway to the Trump Administration's oil and gas cronies. And it's headed to the House floor for a vote, so we literally don't have a moment to waste. Please, help us save Muir Woods and our other national monuments by rushing $5 or more a month. Please rush your emergency donation of $5 or more to the Sierra Club now.

Thank you for standing with us to protect John Muir's legacy and save precious wildlife for future generations,

Michael Brune
