Your state's money from the Volkswagen emissions cheating settlement is now available.
That means it is time for your Governor to apply for these funds so they can put them toward clean transportation programs.
Your governor has until Friday, December 1, 2017 to claim your state's share of the settlement. The time for you to send them a message is now.
We have a huge opportunity to use this money for new electric vehicle charging stations, electric transit and school buses, and other projects that will reduce air pollution and prioritize environmental justice.
But because the devil is in the details, exactly how Governor X chooses to use the money is key.
Send a message to your Governor now to officially apply for the VW funds available to accelerate electric vehicle adoption in your state:
Already, fossil fuel interests are going after these settlement funds for things like natural gas and "clean diesel" vehicles - the very thing that got us in this situation in the first place. We cannot miss the opportunity to fight for zero emission vehicles, which will have the biggest impact on our air quality.
Spending this money is also how we make sure to clean up places with disproportionate exposure to air pollution. Low-income neighborhoods and communities of color endure higher rates of asthma, heart disease, and other ailments worsened by cheating emissions like Volkswagen's.
Tell your Governor to claim State's funding for supporting electric vehicles, not more dirty fossil fuels, and to prioritize funds in communities hit hardest by air pollution:
Thanks for everything you do to promote cleaner cars and cleaner air,
