SPC Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0115 AM CDT Fri Aug 11 2017 Valid 121200Z - 131200Z ...Synopsis... A mid-level ridge over the Pacific Northwest will continue to break down Saturday in response to a shortwave trough pushing into the region. Very weak/convectively modified perturbations may be trapped under the ridge from parts of eastern Idaho into Wyoming, in a zone of confluence fostered by a shortwave trough over central/eastern Montana. ...Pacific Northwest to the northern Rockies... The eastward advance of the trough will gradually shift favorable values of mid-level moisture/instability eastward this weekend as well. In turn, the threat of dry thunderstorms and new fire starts will shift eastward slightly on Saturday. Thunderstorms should gradually become wetter from west to east, as tropospheric moisture rises ahead of the trough. However, this will be offset some across Oregon/Washington by quicker storm motions owing to increased mid-level flow. Farther east, conditions will be drier, but weak anticyclonic flow aloft may yield slower motions. With these factors in place, an isolated dry-thunderstorm area is introduced across the interior Pacific Northwest and parts of the northern Rockies. ..Picca.. 08/11/2017 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov/fire for graphic product...
