URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 446 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 345 PM MDT Thu Aug 10 2017 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Eastern Colorado Southwestern Kansas Northeastern New Mexico The Oklahoma Panhandle The northern Texas Panhandle * Effective this Thursday afternoon and evening from 345 PM until 1000 PM MDT. * Primary threats include... Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2.5 inches in diameter possible A tornado or two possible SUMMARY...Developing storms in northeastern Colorado will likely congeal into a larger cluster later this evening, after some initial supercell structures and a risk for isolated very large hail. The expected cluster of storms will then move southeastward toward southwestern Kansas through early tonight, with an attendant risk for damaging winds. Farther south into southeastern Colorado and northeastern New Mexico, isolated supercells will be possible along the lee slopes of the front range, and these storms will pose a large hail threat. Other isolated supercell development will be possible along a residual outflow boundary across the Texas Panhandle. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 100 statute miles east and west of a line from 30 miles northeast of Limon CO to 30 miles south southwest of Dalhart TX.
