SPC Day 1 Fire Weather Outlook
Day 1 Fire Weather Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0121 AM CDT Wed Mar 28 2018 Valid 281200Z - 291200Z ...Synopsis... An upper shortwave trough located over AZ/NM into northern Mexico will shift east/northeast across the southern Plains today. At the surface, a cold front is expected to continue slowly sagging southeast across TX and portions of the Lower MS Valley. While temperatures will be cooler behind the front over the southern High Plains, a dry airmass will remain and low RH values from 12-20 percent are expected across far southwest TX. Additionally, enhanced deep layer southwesterly flow ahead of the shortwave trough will persist into late afternoon/early evening. As a result, breezy downslope winds around 15 mph are expected across parts of the TX Big Bend. These meteorological conditions, coupled with dry fuels, will lead to a few hours of elevated fire weather conditions this afternoon. ..Leitman.. 03/28/2018 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov/fire for graphic product...
