SPC Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0134 AM CDT Tue Mar 27 2018 Valid 281200Z - 291200Z ...Synopsis... A mid/upper-level low is forecast to shift eastward from New Mexico into the Southern/Central Plains Day 2/Wednesday, as it begins to become absorbed by a larger scale trough over the central CONUS. As this occurs, a ribbon of stronger mid-level flow is expected to quickly transition from southwest Texas into portions of central Texas. At the surface, a cold front will continue shifting south/southeastward through much of the Southern Plains. ...Portions of the Trans-Pecos region of Texas... While cooler temperatures are forecast in the wake of the aforementioned cold front, a dry air mass and dry fuels are expected over the area, with minimum RH values near critical thresholds during the afternoon. While the stronger flow aloft -- associated with the mid-level speed maxima -- is expected to shift away from the area rather quickly, sustained westerly/northwesterly winds near 15 mph coupled with the near critically-lowered RH values will promote Elevated fire weather conditions for at least a few hours during the afternoon before winds subside and RH values increase. ..Elliott.. 03/27/2018 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov/fire for graphic product...
