SPC 0100Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0726 PM CDT Tue Mar 13 2018 Valid 140100Z - 141200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Isolated thunderstorms will persist from parts of central California into the the Great Basin. ...Synopsis and Discussion... An upper trough continues to advance eastward across CA, OR, WA and into the Great Basin, with a surface trough and cold front extending from eastern OR across northwest NV and trailing southwest toward the Sierra as of 00Z. Isolated thunderstorms persist this evening within this general zone, with lift aided by upslope flow and pockets of heating. With time, instability will diminish, leading to a decrease in thunderstorm activity. However, a few lightning strikes will remain possible generally from NV into southern ID through tonight as large-scale lift remains favorable and pivots northeastward with the cold front and surface trough. Otherwise, stable conditions will persist across the remainder of the CONUS due to high pressure providing offshore flow across the Gulf and Atlantic coasts. ..Jewell.. 03/14/2018 Read more
