SPC 1730Z Day 2 Outlook
Day 2 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1028 AM CST Tue Mar 06 2018 Valid 071200Z - 081200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Only isolated thunderstorms are expected across parts of southern Florida on Wednesday. A few lightning strikes cannot be ruled out across parts of the Northeast. ...Synopsis and Discussion... A large-scale upper trough will remain across much of the eastern CONUS, with a ridge over the western states. A primary upper low will remain over the upper Great Lakes, with a leading shortwave trough ejecting northeastward from the Mid Atlantic across New England. At the surface, low pressure will gradually deepen off the East Coast with a cold front trailing southwest across southern FL. Mid 60s F dewpoints will exist across southern FL, supporting weak instability and a few weak thunderstorms during the day. To the north, weak elevated instability will exist as moisture wraps around the low, due to cold temperatures aloft. A few lightning strikes are thus possible within the larger precipitation shield, from DE to Long Island. ..Jewell.. 03/06/2018 Read more
