Dear [[FIRST NAME]],
The Clean Power Plan would prevent 90,000 asthma attacks and 3,600 premature deaths per year. But Trump's EPA head Scott Pruitt is replacing this important climate action with a do-nothing plan that lets polluters off the hook. Replacing the Clean Power Plan is a double whammy for our communities: It will result in increased rates of respiratory illness and premature death while worsening climate change.
Take a stand now to protect the health of our families and communities. Add your name to defend strong climate action. http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=8826184a111bcb8f6e6a4a652cfa9cbbaeb416b34f28344159f32da87da21ef0dcb3dd50ee030302fb7e51cc66eaa204907e7dfa7951a82e461c6aab807ff6c7
Here's what some Sierra Club supporters like you have said about the impacts to their health and communities if the Clean Power Plan is replaced:
"I am a 68 year old man with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, i.e. scar tissue on my lungs from an unknown cause. I lived the first 42 years of my life in the highly polluted air of Detroit and Denver, so... It is incurable, and is getting worse with age. My physician says I will either die with it, or die from it. The disease leaves me short of breath, fatigued, and coughing, especially on high pollution days. The Trump Administration's scheme to kill the Clean Power Plan makes me sick -- literally and figuratively." -- David S., Montrose, CO
"I live over 50 miles from a coal fired power plant run by Louisville Gas and Electric, we get coal dust in the rain that turns roofs, and concrete black. You can wash it off, but it comes right back with the next rain." -- James L., KT
"I have asthma. I have never smoked, but I live in Southern California where the air quality is bad. I have to use inhalers morning and night to try to keep my airways open. I have a rescue inhaler that I have to carry with me always to use when I get short of breath. When I was teaching, almost half my class each year had asthma and had difficulty on smoggy days and could not always participate in PE activities. This is intolerable and we need to make the air cleaner, not go backwards into smoggy oblivion." -- Holly Hall, Temecula, CA

The Clean Power Plan is the strongest climate action our nation has taken to limit the carbon pollution from coal power plants. By moving to repeal the Clean Power Plan, Pruitt is doing the bidding of big corporations and polluters, putting their profits before the health and safety of our children and families.
Submit a comment to EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt showing your outrage at this threat to dismantle the Clean Power Plan. http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=8826184a111bcb8f6e6a4a652cfa9cbbaeb416b34f28344159f32da87da21ef0dcb3dd50ee030302fb7e51cc66eaa204907e7dfa7951a82e461c6aab807ff6c7
The EPA has an open comment period on their plan to replace the Clean Power Plan and the deadline is February 26. We need to flood their inboxes to show Pruitt that we care about clean air.
