Dear Eric,

The President, it's being reported, will pull the U.S. out of the Paris climate agreement, in violation of the established standard of American leadership and of the will of the American people -- 70% of whom support the deal.

The landmark agreement was negotiated by 197 countries and already ratified by 147 nations -- including the U.S -- to defend wildlife and humankind from the calamitous effects of global warming. Trump's colossal fumble today will be remembered by future generations as the moment our president put his fossil-fuel backers ahead of our families -- and relinquished America's role in the clean energy economy to countries like China and India.

Saving the planet is up to us now. The Sierra Club is going into overdrive -- we're fighting back in the streets, in the courts, and in the halls of Congress. We're going to retire even more coal plants, get more leaders to commit to 100% clean energy, and keep our last, precious wild places out of the clutches of the Kochs. But we can't do it all without you. Please, make your emergency monthly gift now.

The Paris climate deal, adopted after decades of climate advocacy, has been hailed by scientists and policy experts as a significant milestone, for both climate science and international cooperation. Dozens of countries have affirmed their commitment.

Not Donald Trump! He's proven once again that no promise is too strong to be broken, no frontline community too fragile to exploit, no international ally too critical to abandon -- not if it makes his Big Energy backers a few extra bucks.

The Sierra Club has led the resistance to our climate-change-denier-in-chief, and we'll continue: supporting lawmakers who'll oppose his dangerous policies -- and pressuring those still on the fence -- while mobilizing our 3 million champions to demand that this administration stop putting profits ahead of people.

But we're battling Trump on so many fronts -- Keystone XL, his attempt to de-list national monuments, this horrendous 2018 budget -- how hard we're able to keep fighting depends ENTIRELY on your support right now. http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=99408b8561cfff33f476846dd2af5b6ce1af0feb938005cf5d783bda886744dccc09be077e1c18b66a299c8d55187e2356f9650aa5ec36c3b9a569c811d8a907 Please, make your monthly donation to the Sierra Club now.

Now for the pep talk: yes, things look pretty bad under President Trump. In many ways, even worse than we expected. But our resistance is sustainable. We are 3 million and growing. We are focused. We are determined. Our global climate action movement will not be derailed by one man, however ignorant or inhumane.

Thank you for standing with the Sierra Club again today.
