MD 0753 CONCERNING TORNADO WATCH 233... FOR CENTRAL/EAST-CENTRAL WI
Mesoscale Discussion 0753 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0631 PM CDT Wed May 17 2017 Areas affected...Central/East-central WI Concerning...Tornado Watch 233... Valid 172331Z - 180100Z The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 233 continues. SUMMARY...Severe threat is expected to continue across central and east-central WI for the next few hours. All severe hazards, including tornadoes, are possible. DISCUSSION...Current (2315Z) radar imagery shows several supercells embedded in the southern portion of the convective line moving northeastward across central WI. Recent surface analysis places the warm front near RGK east-northeastward to north of MNM. Thermodynamic environment along and north of this front is only weakly unstable with convective inhibition building over the past hour. However, the thermodynamic environment south of the front, which includes much of central and east-central WI, is characterized by temperatures in the mid to upper 70s, dewpoints in the low to mid 60s, and MLCAPE over 1000 J/kg (per the latest mesoanalysis). The immediate downstream kinematic environment is characterized by a veering wind profile composed of relatively weak southeasterly surface winds increasing to over 40 kt from the south-southwest at 850 mb and over 60 kt from the southwest at 500mb. Overall, the downstream environment across central and east-central WI is supportive of a continued severe threat for at least the next few hours. All severe hazards, including tornadoes, are possible across the remainder of Tornado Watch 223. ..Mosier.. 05/17/2017 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product...
