Health Minister Jonathan Coleman says todays signing of the care and support workers $2 billion pay equity settlement in an important milestone.

Dr Coleman and representatives from the Ministry of Health, ACC, DHBs and Unions, along with care worker Kristine Bartlett, signed the historic settlement at Parliament today.

"The Government announced the $2 billion pay equity settlement for 55,000 care and support workers over five years in mid-April," says Dr Coleman.

Climate Change Minister Paula Bennett and Finance Minister Steven Joyce have asked the Productivity Commission to review how New Zealand can maximise the opportunities and minimise the costs and risks of transitioning to a lower carbon economy. "This next step in our climate change work programme will enable us to properly assess the economic trade-offs that well need to make to meet our ambitious 2030 Paris Agreement target," says Mrs Bennett.

Minister supporting Greater Christchurch Regeneration Nicky Wagner is welcoming the Regenerate Christchurch Statement of Performance Expectations tabled in Parliament today. The Statement of Performance Expectations is compiled by Regenerate Christchurch, in collaboration with the Christchurch City Council and the Crown. It looks at Regenerate Christchurchs key work programmes, including planning for the Residential Red Zone, and the regeneration of the central city and New Brighton.

"Following the February 2017 Port Hills fires, the Terms of Reference have now been approved for the New Zealand Fire Service and the National Rural Fire Authority sponsored Operational Review of the Port Hills Fire response.

Prime Minister Bill English has announced the election of Nationals new whips following the National Party Caucus this morning. Mr English says the new senior whip will be Botany MP Jami-Lee Ross. He was previously junior whip and replaces Tim Macindoe, who is now a Minister outside Cabinet. The junior whip will be Taranaki King Country MP Barbara Kuriger who steps up from third whip. The third whip will be Waimakariri MP Matt Doocey.

In his last act as Minister supporting Greater Christchurch Regeneration, Gerry Brownlee has today announced the Crown will fund a pre-feasibility study for a new multi-use arena in Christchurch. The Christchurch Central Recovery Plan provides for a multi-use sports and entertainment venue to attract regional, national and international events. Under the central city Blueprint, the land between three city blocks bounded by Hereford, Tuam, Madras and Barbadoes Streets was designated for the anchor project.

Outdoors professional Geoff Thomas and firearms safety specialist Nicole McKee will provide advice on the twenty recommendations proposed by Parliaments Law and Order Select Committee.
