SPC 0100Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0800 PM CDT Mon Mar 20 2017 Valid 210100Z - 211200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Scattered thunderstorms will continue this evening and overnight across portions of a region including the mid- and upper-Ohio/Tennessee/mid-Mississippi Valleys and central Appalachians, and perhaps westward into the Ozarks. Elsewhere, lingering thunder across portions of the West should diminish gradually tonight. ...Discussion... While showers will persist across a large portion of the western U.S. this evening and overnight, lightning coverage should become increasingly sparse over the next few hours. The most active convection -- with respect to lightning coverage -- will likely persist from the central Appalachians area westward across the Tennessee Valley vicinity, as short-wave troughing continues to shift east-southeast across the Midwest/Ohio Valley area per latest water vapor imagery. Appreciable severe risk has diminished, however, as storms gradually weaken due to diurnal stabilization. ..Goss.. 03/21/2017 Read more
