SPC Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0120 PM CDT Mon Mar 20 2017 Valid 211200Z - 221200Z ...NO CRITICAL AREAS... ...Portions of the Southwest... Gradually increasing southwesterly flow aloft coupled with deep boundary-layer mixing will support some breezy conditions across the region, particularly across northern AZ and northwest NM. Additionally, temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 70s with afternoon RH values in the teens. However, dissociation between the strongest winds speeds (west) and the lowest RH values (east) will mitigate the meteorological fire weather conditions with limited fuel receptiveness reducing the fire weather threat further. Resulting low threat currently precludes the need for any outlook areas with this forecast but an outlook area may be needed in subsequent forecasts if overlap between the dry and windy conditions increases. ..Mosier.. 03/20/2017 .PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 0231 AM CDT Mon Mar 20 2017/ ...Synopsis... A mid-level ridge is forecast on Tuesday over the High Plains located in between an area of broad cyclonic 500-mb flow over the Great Lakes/Northeast and a mid-level trough near the West Coast. Surface high pressure will encompass a large part of the Midwest to the north of a front located over the TN Valley/Mid South and areas west into the southern High Plains. Generally weak winds and low RH will not phase together in locales across the contiguous U.S. on Tuesday---resulting in minimal concerns for fire weather. ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov/fire for graphic product...
