SPC 0600Z Day 2 Outlook
Day 2 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1246 AM CDT Sun Mar 19 2017 Valid 201200Z - 211200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Thunderstorm development will be possible on Monday from southeastern parts of the central Plains eastward into the mid Mississippi Valley and southern Appalachians. Isolated thunderstorms may also occur in the Intermountain West. ...DISCUSSION... An upper-level ridge is forecast to move eastward across the Great Plains on Monday with west to northwest mid-level flow in much of the east-central U.S. At the surface, a cold front is forecast to advance southward into the mid Mississippi and Ohio Valleys by afternoon. Although large-scale ascent should remain weak along the front, low-level convergence and surface heating could be enough to aide isolated convective initiation Monday afternoon. The combination of instability and shear along the front is not expected to be sufficient for severe storms. Elsewhere, thunderstorms will also be possible across southern and central Idaho Monday afternoon just behind an upper-level ridge along the northern edge of an area of steep lapse rates. ..Broyles.. 03/19/2017 Read more
