Dear Mary,

Los Angeles's utility, the Department of Water and Power (DWP), is proposing a major commitment -- 2.2 billion dollars paid by customers like you -- to rebuild old natural gas power plants that risk locking our communities into dirty fossil fuels for decades to come.

Not only is it expensive to rebuild aging gas plants, it's also completely unnecessary. Energy efficiency and rooftop solar are cleaner and a whole lot more cost-effective.

Sign the petition today to stop the DWP from rebuilding old dirty power plants.

In September, the Los Angeles City Council unanimously passed a motion requesting DWP study and develop a plan for 100% clean energy. So why does the DWP want to lock us into decades of dirty power plants?

Sign the petition and tell Mayor Garcetti that you want an equitable transition to 100% clean energy now.

Sierra Club volunteers and partners have spent the last eight years pushing to accelerate the city's transition away from coal. Don't let Los Angeles get stuck with costly, regrettable investments in natural gas.

Sign the petition today!

Thanks for all you do for the environment and our communities,

Graciela Geyer Campaign Representative, Los Angeles Sierra Club
