Take Action with the Sierra Club
Tell your mayors and local leaders that you're ready for your city to lead the nation and commit to 100% clean and renewable energy!
*** Dear Friend,
By now you've heard the bad news. Scott Pruitt -- a known fossil fuel advocate and climate denier -- has just been appointed to lead the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This agency, whose mission "is to protect human health and the environment,"1 is the same agency that Pruitt sued at least 14 times as the attorney general of Oklahoma. Which is to say, that for the next few years the EPA will be run by someone who has consistently put big polluters over people.
While DC turns its back on protecting clean air and water, local leaders know first-hand the impact that fossil fuel pollution has on families and communities.
Now, cities and communities are fighting back. Today, local leaders across the nation -- from red and blue states -- are realizing that repowering our cities with 100% clean and renewable energy will help create jobs and boost local economies, and protect the health of families across communities.
On Monday, the city council of Pueblo, Colorado, voted unanimously to commit to achieving a 100% clean, renewable energy future by 2035. And on Tuesday, the city council of Moab, Utah, approved a resolution committing the city to transition to 100% clean, renewable energy by 2032 -- thus becoming the 22nd and 23rd cities in the nation to make similar commitments for 100% clean, renewable energy!
We can #ResistTrump by going all-in on clean energy.
Now, more than ever, it's time to tell your mayors and local leaders that you're ready for Rancho Palos Verdes to lead the nation and commit to 100% clean and renewable energy!
By committing to 100% clean and renewable energy, like wind and solar, we are charting a course away from dirty fossil fuels to one where there are more jobs in clean energy, more energy security for families and our most vulnerable residents, and more opportunities for people across the country.
Tell your mayor and local leaders that you're ready for 100% clean and renewable energy -- more high-quality jobs, a stronger local economy, and the protection of local clean air and water -- too!
