Air Traffic Controllers To Resume Normal Operations By Sunday Evening

By Newsroom America Staff at 27 Apr 2013

(Newsroom America) -- The FAA says air traffic facilities will begin to return to regular staffing levels over the next 24 hours and the system will resume normal operations by Sunday evening.

The U.S. Congress pushed a bill through on Friday to allow the Department of Transportation flexibility to access funds to cover the wages of air traffic controllers and other essential employees.

As a result the FAA says it has suspended all employee furloughs.

Thousands of flights were delayed at airports around the country last week as a result of air traffic control staffing reductions due to sequestration.
