(Newsroom America) -- Aurora, Colo. mass shooting suspect James Holmes is reportedly refusing to cooperate with authorities, raising the prospect it could be many months before key questions are answered about the rampage.
Holmes is due to appear in court this morning for a 9:30 a.m. MDT (11:30 am EDT) hearing, where the charges against him will be read.
Holmes is accused of killing 12 people and wounding 58 others in a shooting rampage at a movie theater in Aurora during a midnight screening of the latest Batman move "Dark Knight Rises"
A public defender has been appointed for him, with Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates saying the 24-year-old has "lawyered up".
"He's not talking to us," the police chief said.
Holmes is being held in solitary confinement at an Arapahoe County detention facility.
Yesterday the Aurora community held a prayer vigil and President Barack Obama arrived to visit the families of the victims.
