Report: Christie to Give Keynote Address at GOP Convention

By Newsroom America Staff at 18 Jul 2012

(Newsroom America) -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will give the keynote address at the Republican National Convention in Tampa next month, a report said Wednesday.

The New York Post reported on its Web site that Christie, a rising star in the Republican Party, will speak Tuesday night, Aug. 28.

"We’ve been told that’s the night to be there, that’s when the governor is going to speak. They’re saying he’s the keynoter," a top party activist told the Post.

Christie has been mentioned often as a potential running mate for presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

Initially Christie dismissed such rumors but said recently he would consider the post if offered.
