(Newsroom America) -- Hollywood stars Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are now officially divorced according to their lawyers, but details of the agreement are being kept very private including who has custody of daughter Suri.
Katie Holmes' lawyer Jonathan Wolfe issued a statement saying the case had been settled and the agreement had been signed.
"We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life," it said.
Mr Wolfe thanked Tom Cruise's counsel for their "professionalism and diligence" that helped bring about the speedy resolution.
No details of the divorce settlement have been released, but reports said Holmes will have custody of Suri, with Cruise having visiting rights.
Earlier the pair released a statement through their representatives, which some media have interpreted as confirming Cruise's beliefs in Scientology was responsible for the split.
"We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each others commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents," the statement said.
