AVO Cleveland YELLOW/ADVISORY - Unrest continues. No significant activity observed in seismic or satellite data.

22 Apr 17:08 | U.S. News

Apr 22, 2017 20:53 - No significant volcanic activity has been detected in satellite, seismic or infrasound data over the past day. Cleveland volcano is monitored with a limited real-time seismic network, which inhibits AVO's ability to detect precursory unrest that may lead to an explosive eruption. Rapid detection of an ash-producing eruption may be possible using a combination of seismic, infrasound, lightning and satellite data. read more »

AVO Bogoslof YELLOW/ADVISORY - Unrest continues. No significant activity observed in seismic or satellite data.

22 Apr 17:08 | SciTech

Apr 22, 2017 20:53 - No significant volcanic activity was observed at Bogoslof volcano in seismic, infrasound data or satellite data over the past day. Bogoslof volcano remains at a heightened state of unrest and in an unpredictable condition. Activity may ramp back up with additional explosions producing high-altitude (>15,000 ft) volcanic clouds with little precursory activity. Some previous explosions have been preceded by an increase in earthquake activity that allowed for short-term forecasts of imminent significant explosive activity. Although we are able to detect energetic ...read more »

22 Apr 15:35 | SciTech

Apr 21, 2017 19:45 - An increase in earthquake activity from Bogoslof was detected from stations on nearby islands starting Saturday, April 15 around 15:01 AKST / 23:01 UTC and subsided a few hours later. In response, AVO raised the Aviation Color Code for Bogoslof to ORANGE and the Volcano Alert Level to WATCH. After four days with no observed activity, AVO reduced the Aviation Color Code back to YELLOW and the Volcano Alert Level to ADVISORY. AVO has not detected any subsequent activity in seismic data. No significant activity was observed in infrasound, lightning or satellite data ...read more »
